How to Occlude Other Lights in V-Ray
1. Enable Light Occlusion:
* Open the V-Ray Light Editor (press «L» on your keyboard).
* In the «Settings» tab, enable «Occlude Other Lights.»
2. Adjust the Occlusion Radius:
* The Occlusion Radius determines the distance within which other lights are occluded.
* Increase the radius to occlude nearby lights, or decrease it to limit the occlusion effect.
3. Exclude Specific Lights:
* In the «Occluded Lights» section, you can exclude specific lights from occlusion.
* Select the light you want to exclude and click the «Minus» button (-).
4. Adjust the Occlusion Strength:
* The Occlusion Strength controls the intensity of the occlusion effect.
* A higher strength results in stronger occlusion, while a lower strength creates a more subtle effect.
5. Use the Exclude Map:
* The Exclude Map allows you to specify a bitmap texture that controls the occlusion effect.
* Black areas in the map indicate lights that should be occluded, while white areas indicate lights that should not be occluded.
Example Workflow:
* Place two lights in your scene.
* Enable Light Occlusion for one of the lights.
* Adjust the Occlusion Radius to occlude the other light.
* Optionally, exclude the other light from occlusion or use the Exclude Map to refine the effect.
Tips:
* Light Occlusion can improve realism by preventing lights from «leaking» into occluded areas.
* Use the Occlusion Strength sparingly to avoid excessive darkening.
* If you experience artifacts, reduce the Occlusion Radius or exclude additional lights.
* The Exclude Map can be used to create complex occlusion patterns.
* Experiment with different settings to find the best balance for your scene.
